MySpace Generation Could Greatly Expand Telecommuting
Despite rapid advancements in the technology that enables it, only 2 percent of workers telecommute full time and only 9 percent telecommute one or two days a week, according to a survey, conducted by Rockbridge Associates. Most US workers (70 percent) still commute to work, while another 20 percent either operate a business from home or are otherwise not commuters. The reluctance for big business to comfortable accept telecommuting arrangements may be due to the age of decision makers. This article speculates that the majority of resistance to telecommuting arrangements will desolve as those in the MySpace generation come of age and begin making these decisions and refers to this as "Telecommuting's Quiet Storm". Do you agree?
