Is Viral Marketing Part of Your Marketing Strategy?

Monday August 28, 2006
Viral marketing is a collection of methods used to deliver your business' message to as many people as possible by impelling those who hear or see your message to pass it on. In the old days, this was known as "word of mouth" marketing. Today, the Internet provides a number of ways to engage in viral marketing efficiently at a potentially very low cost. This article looks at different Internet viral marketing methods, including how and why they work and cites several examples of highly successful viral marketing campaigns.

I became exposed to viral marketing when I was asked to write a patent specification for new viral marketing software technology that makes it easy for marketing folks to create and track Macromedia Flash presentations without any programming knowledge. One of the primary features of that tool is the ability to easily create a video email that contains a linked snapshot of the Flash presentation. Once this video email is received by members of your targeted audience, it can then be forwarded to others and viewers can easily send their feedback to the company on what they thought of the presentation, the product concept and more.

Do you use viral marketing in your home business marketing strategy? What methods are you using and what has been most effective for you?
