Virtual Office - A Good Solution for a Growing Home-Based Business?

Thursday March 13, 2008
Running a business from your home can make it awkward when you need to meet with clients and want to project a professional image for your home-based business. And, because most of us who own home businesses don't have the money to shell out for monthly rent on office space, we usually end up meeting at a restaurant, coffee shop or other public place that isn't really suitable to having a serious business discussion.

Enter the virtual office, a potential image-saver for any home-based business. A virtual office can provide the home-based entrepreneur with amenities that aren't even available in small, leased offices, like a receptionist, a break room with coffee and tea and maybe even Wi-Fi access.

For a monthly fee, which is usually far lower than renting office space, you can get a mailing address, someone to sign for packages, a real person to forward your calls, and often access to a conference room, copy machine and coffee.

As Rachel Kaufman points out in Getting Ahead: Virtual Offices on ReadExpress, virtual offices come in a variety of "flavors" to meet your needs and they are growing in numbers across the country. Rents may range from $75 to $300 per month, depending on amenities and location.

If you live in an area where virtual office services are available, they just might be the answer for a home-based business owner who still wants to operate from home but wants the option to have somewhere to go when it's necessary for meetings or for interacting with others. It would certainly seem to beat paying monthly office rent for an office you might hardly ever need, especially for a home-based business that may be experiencing some growing pains.

I had heard of this business option few years ago from overseas companies promoting it, but did not know that virtual offices were available in the US until I read your article. Thanks for sharing this information. – Javier from Takeoffzone.com

Good post. Thank you for such a nice information shared here about the virtual office. When I needed for a good Virtual office and services my friend suggest a site
Virtual Office – palm beach gardens executive suites. They provided a good virtual office with all the services needed for a business. I am happy with their business.

NOTE FROM GUIDE: I’ve allowed the link in this comment because virtual offices can be a good solution for many home businesses, but I have not checked into this specific business and I in no way endorse this specific virtual office service. As with anything, if you are considering virtual office space, I urge you to do your homework and shop around.
