SCORE Helps Business Owners Rebuild After Disasters

Thursday July 10, 2008
SCORE, "Counselors to America's Small Business" provides a variety of resources and workshops to help small businesses recover from a disaster. SCORE strongly encourages entrepreneurs whose businesses have been affected by flooding, wildfires, tornadoes and other disasters to relay on them for timely advice. They also suggest that business owners contact their local SBA office for information about when and where a business recovery center may be set up.

Many SCORE counselors have extensive knowledge and experience in disaster recovery and in continuing business operations following a disaster. You can get answers to questions via email by using the form available at www.score.org/ask_score.html. You can also locate your local SCORE office for face-to-face mentoring and advice at www.score.org/findscore.

SCORE's Website also provides links for both disaster preparation and relief, including links to SBA Disaster Loan Assistance, FEMA applications for assistance and other important post-disaster resources for small business at . has added new disaster preparation and recovery learning guides and business tools online at http://www.score.org/disaster_preparedness.html.

For more information about starting or operating a small business, call 1-800/634-0245 for the SCORE chapter nearest you. Visit SCORE on the Web at http://www.score.org/.
