If you already have or plan to start your own business, you'll want to know about marketing collateral and think about what types of marketing materials you need to create to help sell your services.

Your marketing collateral can help tell your story and explain the benefits of your services or products. You may also want to create some pieces and make them available either for downloading from your Website or send them out as part of a direct mail campaign.

Have you found that marketing collateral is best used for warm leads such as those who’ve already expressed interest in your company or would you say that marketing collateral is best for the introduction and explanation of your business?

I’d say it’s useful for both. I think it’s also useful to send to your existing customers as it gives them something to save that they can use later to refer you to others. For example, when I get a new client I send a few cards and a magnetic card along with the contract documents, since I meet very few in person. More than once I’ve been told by a prospect that they were given my card by an existing client. The magnetic card makes it easy to keep my contact info in front of my clients and they’re less likely to toss them in the trash.
