After more than 12 years of being a full-time telecommuting employee and too many years working in an office, Randy Duermyer has been working from home as a freelance web services and writing professional since 2003.
Before becoming an independent freelancer and entrepreneur, Randy worked in a number of work-at-home and on site staff positions, including full-time work at home positions spanning more than 15 years. Currently, he provides virtual blogging, and other professional website services, including SEO copywriting services to web design and marketing services firms on a subcontract, freelance basis.
Randy holds a B.A. in Business & Economics from Rutgers University and holds certifications both as a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and a certified Webmaster (CIW). He has also completed numerous college and graduate-level courses in search engine marketing, website promotion, eCommerce marketing and online communications. He is a lifelong learner who likes to take advantage of opportunities to learn and to network.
I had been very successful working for others and I feel fortunate to have been able to work from home most of that time. The catalyst for going out on my own came when I was unexpectedly laid off and unable to find a traditional job. Although I had dabbled in part-time entrepreneurship before then and had always dreamed of owning my own business, it wasn't until this life-changing event that I had no choice but to support myself full time and be my own boss. I hope my first-hand experiences with running a business and working from home will inspire my visitors to learn and grow in order to achieve their dreams and be successful.
