When an economic recession or other period of hard times is waiting on the doorstep of your home business or your home you need to take action for survival. Recessions and economic hard times vary, but they may include some important factors that can have a negative impact on your business or your personal finances, including:

  • Inflation
  • Growing unemployment
  • The weakening of the dollar
  • A tight credit market
  • Overseas competition
  • Weak real estate and investment markets
  • Weakened demand for business products or services
  • Bank failures
  • Growing foreclosure and bankruptcy rates

If you can become skilled in identifying the specific problems that are impacting your business, developing an economic recovery plan, putting your plan into action and then monitoring the results and learning from your successes and failures, you can become what I like to call a Recession Ninja - a master of getting through an economic recession or other hard times.

This three-part series will go a long way in helping you to become your own Recession Ninja. The next time an economic recession or other period of hard times comes knocking on your door you'll be ready - to assassinate it with ninja-like precision.

Don't have a business? Not to worry, you can use the tips in this series to become a Recession Ninja and win the war over your personal financial battles, too!

Part 1: Identifying Economic Recession Challenges and Opportunities

The first step in winning your personal war against economic recession is to identify your friends (things that are happening now that are in your favor) as well as your enemies (those things that are working against you) and you have become intimately acquainted with your enemies' weaknesses. Part 1 of this series looks at:

  • Identifying your challenges and opportunities in an economic recession
  • Understanding the pain your customers, clients or prospects are facing - you are not alone
  • Rising above economic challenges to slay the recession demon

Part 2: Develop Your Plan of Attack

Every Recession Ninja needs a battle plan. The economic recession or other crisis has brought you face-to-face with a tough battle that won't easily be won. The better you plan, the more likely you'll succeed in assassinating the hard times your business is facing. But, as every ninja knows, wars aren't won in the planning room, they're won on the battlefield. The enemy is getting closer and time is in short supply. That's why Part 2 discusses:

  • Staying focused
  • Prioritizing your objectives
  • Developing your action items
  • Getting help if you need it

Part 3: Put your Economic Recession Survival Plan into Action

Now that you've worked hard to get to know your enemy, have found your enemy's vulnerabilities and developed a plan of attack, it's time to take ninja action: swift, determined, focused and decisive. During and after your battle, as results unfold before your eyes and find ways of getting resolved, you graduate to full-fledged Recession Ninja by learning from your your successes and failures. After all, you never doubted yourself, did you ninja? Part 3 in the series brings it all home with:

  • Achieving your objectives in priority order
  • Monitoring your progress and adjusting your battle strategy
  • Learning from your successes and failures
  • Savoring victory over economic recession
