Ranking Your Recession Recovery Objectives

Because you need to keep your wits about you and that's not always easy when you're struggling through a recession or any period of hard times, you need to get your recovery objectives in priority order. List your objectives on your whiteboard, write them down on paper or in a computer file, whatever works best for you. Just get it done. Recession Ninjas know that to procrastinate in the face of troubles is to invite disaster!

Prioritize your list in whatever way makes the most sense for you. How you do that may be depend on how much pain your home business is feeling during this challenging period. Here are some ideas that may help:

  • If your business (or family) is really struggling or the recession or period of hard times is especially severe, make the objective that has the greatest potential for a positive impact in the least amount of time your number one priority.
  • If you can clearly identify your top priority don't pull your hair out trying to figure out which should come second or third. Get your top priority taken care of and you'll very likely be in a better position to decide what should come next. You may also find a moment or two or clarity while you're tackling your first objective. In the meantime, you'll be on your way to stopping the bleeding your business is experiencing and achieving your number one objective.
  • If your troubles are moderate or minor and you need help setting priorities, look at your action tasks involved. If multiple action tasks are shared among your objectives, you might consider placing those objectives first so you can accomplish more in less time (the proverbial "killing two birds with one stone").

Recession Ninjas slay their largest enemy first, lest they not have the energy to win after fighting many smaller battles!
