Barb Ireland, owner of MADC, has taken the diaper cake a step further, offering “cakes” for virtually any occasion. Through some amazingly creative assemblies and hours of experimentation, Ireland has created designs to impress and amaze individuals looking for an extremely special gift for a variety of occasions. A “cake” is a piece to impress the individual receiving the gift, and without words, expresses how very special the recipient is to the giver.
Established in 2004, Make A Diaper Cake (MADC), based in Waukegan, Illinois, has thrived on the assembly of the traditional “diaper cake” – an interesting arrangement of diapers, baby toys, and a collaboration of other baby must-haves. Diaper cakes have proved to be the highlight of baby showers and parties, and tend to be a wonderfully unique gift to welcome a new baby’s arrival, providing not only a beautiful gift, but a wonderful conversation piece in a gathering of friends and family.
I have yet to really experience any challenges with MADC. I love what I do and the joy of helping others has always been my first priority. Everything here at MADC just flows smoothly. Many women and men have moved forward and started their own home-based businesses, which just thrills me.

Doing what you love makes running your business seem easy. So easy in fact, that Barb Ireland claims she hasn't experienced any challenges. She probably has, but they didn't seem like challenges to her because she enjoyed handling them. I have to admit, I hadn't heard of diaper cakes before I was contacted by MADC. But then again, it's been a very long time since I've talked to anyone who has had a baby shower. And the nice thing is that gift cakes don't have to be limited to baby items.
