Be your own mystery shopper from time to time. Put yourself in your shopper's shoes. Visit your website yourself and have your friends visit and give you objective opinions and feedback as well.
Is your website site easy to use? Would you want to make a purchase if this were not your site and you'd never seen it before?
Pretend you found the site through a pay per click ad or from clicking a search result and you landed here for the first time. What obstacles are preventing your visitors from converting to paying customers? How easy is it to find what you need?
Are your products or services displayed attractively? Are any images sufficiently clear and large enough to see details if you weren't familiar with the item? How can you get answers to your questions?
Make a "dummy" purchase. Did everything work like it was supposed to? Was the shopper taken to a secure area of the site before needing to provide sensitive information?
Be the customer. If you don't like the experience, your visitors won't either and you'll be sending them to your competitors and losing sales.
