Get Your Home Business Profiled on About Home Business

I get a lot of email asking me to visit a reader's home business Web site and/or requesting that I include a link to their Web site on the About Home Business GuideSite. In response to the apparent demand and to foster community among my audience, I'm now offering the chance for home business owners the opportunity to have their home business featured right here on About Home Business.

The Necessary Ground Rules

All home businesses profiled here will follow the same format. And, in an effort to avoid favoritism or endorsing any specific home business, I'm having the home business owners write the profiles themselves (I'll edit submitted profiles for grammar and length and remove any overly "pushy" or "hyped" material). The idea is to provide my valued readers - YOU - with information on real life home businesses that are up and running and to allow those of you who already operate a home business a way to give it some free exposure and share your experiences with those who may either be able to learn from you or who might benefit from using your products or services. I can't guarantee when or if I'll be able to publish your profile, but I'll do my best. Of course, I'm not going to include information about businesses that may be scams or otherwise illegal, or those that are of an adult nature. After all, I'm still responsible for providing content that I deem suitable for my visitors. Your home business needs to already be up and running and it needs to be real. How busy I am varies greatly, so if you submit your home business profile to me, please be patient and don't send follow up email messages that will only serve to clog up my inbox and result in even more time to get to your original request. And, if I think your home business profile is of special interest, I may even contact you for a more in-depth interview piece.

Keeping the Process Simple

I've tried to make the process of submitting your home business information as simple as possible. You have two options:

1. View the sample home business profile and then prepare an email filling in the information specific to your home business and send it to me at homebusiness.guide@about.com. Be sure to include all the profile headings in your message. (Year Home Business was Started, Name of Home Business - Doing Business As, etc.)
2. Send an email to me at homebusiness.guide@about.com and place "Request for Home Business Profile Questions" in the Subject of your email. I'll send the questions to you by return email. If you include incoming text in your email replies, you'll just need to reply to my email, fill in the questions with information about your home business and then send the message back to me.

If I do publish your home business profile, a short entry about your home business will appear on the About Home Business home page and the title of the entry will link to your profile. I'll also email you a link to your profile so you'll know it's been published. You can then use that link as you like - send it to your friends and family, place it on your Web site or in your blog - it's up to you. You're not under any obligation to link back to About Home Business.
